Keep your water safe & crystal clear

Water Testing & Balancing

Balanced water is the difference between a pool that's a pleasure and one that stings eyes, stains surfaces and chews through equipment.

Overview

More than a chlorine dip-strip

Chlorine only works properly when the rest of the water is in range. Wrong pH makes chlorine lazy. Low stabiliser lets the sun burn it off by lunchtime. Wrong calcium levels either etch your surfaces or scale your heater and chlorinator cell.

Dahkoda tests the full picture, adjusts what needs adjusting and explains the results so you know what's going on with your water.

What we test and balance

Free chlorine

The sanitiser that keeps water safe to swim in.

pH

Comfort for eyes and skin, and how well chlorine works.

Total alkalinity

Stops pH swinging around between visits.

Stabiliser (cyanuric acid)

Sunscreen for your chlorine on hot NSW days.

Calcium hardness

Protects surfaces and equipment from etching and scale.

Salt and phosphates

Salt for your chlorinator to work; phosphates because they feed algae.

Common questions

My eyes sting after swimming. Too much chlorine?
Usually it's the opposite. Stinging eyes and a strong "chlorine" smell are most often caused by wrong pH or by combined chlorine (chloramines), which means there isn't enough free chlorine doing the job. A proper test tells us which.
Is one-off testing available?
Yes. If you look after your own pool but want it checked and set right before summer, after a storm or after topping up, book a one-off visit.
Do you do spas too?
Yes. Spa water is warm and small in volume, so it drifts fast. See spa services.
